Aluminium Boats

The key to McLay’s long-standing success in the aluminium boat industry has always been world-class design and engineering that focuses squarely on quality and durability - serious fishing enthusiasts and recreational boat owners truly want: outstanding quality, excellent functionality, and exceptional value for money. All of this is backed by a professional nationwide network of dealers and a solid five-year warranty that gives you complete peace of mind. Our aluminium boats are known and respected around the world for their superior design and robust construction. We never cut corners on the thickness of the marine-grade aluminium alloy or on the internal structure and reinforcements. This ensures every McLay boat is built, how we like it, tough enough to handle New Zealand’s demanding coastal and lake conditions while still remaining sensibly priced for everyday boating families. Multiple quality checks are carried out at every stage of production to guarantee the highest standards of workmanship and finish. You simply won’t find a better built aluminium boat anywhere in New Zealand. What truly sets McLay Boats apart is that our own staff regularly use our boats on the water. Many hours go into refining each hull shape, deck layout, and feature set so that every McLay model is perfectly suited to New Zealand’s unique boating environments – from sheltered harbours and rivers to exposed coastal waters. Our boats are ideal for both weekend family recreation and dedicated fishing trips, delivering comfort, stability, and confidence in all conditions.

Quality Fishing Boats

Independent experts agree. Trade-A-Boat reviewed one of our boats and said, “The McLay boat was totally abused on the water for our boat review. To be quite frank, it has a bloody good ride to it. A good boat and an impressive build quality – comprising 5 mm plate bottom with a very strong double keel system, 3 mm sides and tops – a number of separately sealed buoyancy chambers built into the hull for added safety, and some very impressive craftsmanship and finishing throughout.” At McLay Boats we understand that buying a new aluminium boat is a significant investment. From our entry-level models perfect for first-time boat owners to our larger, fully optioned fishing and family boats, every McLay is designed and built with the same uncompromising attention to detail. Experience the McLay Boats advantage for yourself – superior New Zealand made aluminium boats that are built to perform, built to last, and built for Kiwi conditions.

The dedicated manufacturing team at McLay Boats are all keen boaties themselves, so they take pride in ensuring their product is the best and fits your custom needs.

The McLay team listen to what their customers & dealers have to say, incorporating their suggestions into the design & manufacturing process. This is the reason we now do a lot of custom builds for New Zealand and overseas markets. We are able to provide 3D design concepts before we custom build your boat to your requirements.

McLay Boats are now manufacturing trailer boats up to 11 metres long by 3.1 metres wide. So whatever your requirement is for a high quality aluminium boat, we can build it. We are able to build to C.E. Certification, Australian 2C Survey and New Zealand Surveying requirements.
